This summer, thanks to Tempo and funding from Welsh Government, if you organise and host a Big Lunch in Wales, you can claim Tempo Time Credits in return for the hours you give. We value your time and efforts, and are thrilled to be able to show that thanks with Tempo Time Credits.

The Big Lunch is the UK's annual big date to celebrate and give thanks to our neighbours and communities. It's about connecting with those you live near, to help build community, friendship and fun.  The Big Lunch weekend this year is the 5-6 June which will kick off a summer of Big Lunch events so that we can come back together and connect, as and when we're able to.  You can join in online, on your doorstep, or over the fence, whatever way suits you and your community.

After the last year we've had, there are more reasons than ever to get together.  One of these is our new partnership with Tempo, which we are very excited about.

Tempo are a UK wide charity that aims to recognise the valuable contribution everyone can give to their community.  They support communities to thrive and support more people into volunteering.  They do this with Tempo Time Credits, which are offered to volunteers to recognise their contribution. Tempo Time Credits can then be used on a huge amount of activities across Wales.

For every hour given in unpaid time, you can receive a Tempo Time Credit. This can then be used for an equivalent hour of benefit to you, including fun activities.

It's an amazing opportunity to give back to those who support you to organise your event, and to encourage even more people local to you to get involved.  Want a DJ, local band or entertainer to join the day? You could even offer to pay them with Tempo Time Credits!

Time Credits can be used on an array of amazing things, and while restrictions are currently in place, they have plenty of online voucher options. And what's great, if a few people in your street or community group have claimed their Tempo Time Credits, you could group them and use for another excuse to get together.  Why not use them on some Just Eat vouchers and all have a pizza night in 'together' in the comfort of your own homes?  Or when restrictions lift, grab some tickets for a day trip together.

Your Big Lunch can be online, on your doorstep, or over the fence, the how, when and where is up to you.  You can invite everyone in the street, or just have a cuppa with a few neighbours. The big date this year is 5-6 June, but you can host a Big Lunch at any time to suit you.

To get started on your Big Lunch and claim Tempo Time Credits...

1. Sign up for a Big Lunch pack to tell us you're taking part and claim your free digital or posted pack. It's full of tips and resources to get you started.

2. Sign up with Tempo Time Credits - you'll be given access to Tempo's online platform, and supported on how to use Tempo Time Credits.  If you're already a Tempo Time Credit user, get in touch with your local Communities & Partnerships Manager and you can claim an additional 150 time credits for any Big Lunch events you plan!

3. You're ready to go! Claim, share and decide how to use your Tempo Time Credits.

Not sure what to spend your Tempo Time Credits on?

As an added bonus this year, we're going to trial a Big Lunch Time Credit 'community pot'.  If you or your helpers don't know what to use their vouchers on, we'll open up this 'community pot' so you can donate them.  Later in the summer we'll have a vote and these 'donated' Tempo Time Credits will be gifted to a derserving street, group or community to use together.

We're really excited about this opportunity and can't wait to see Tempo Time Credits being claimed and used all across our Big Lunch communities in Wales.
