Get growing for your Big Lunch!

This year, The Big Lunch has partnered with the Food for Life Get Togethers Programme which is all about bringing different generations together through growing, cooking and eating.

They encourage communities to take part in Get Togethers all year round, but have three main national celebration events: World Food Day, Plant and Share Month and The Big Lunch.

Plant and Share Month

Plant and Share Month is a great way for schools to get involved and get growing in time for The Big Lunch - 5-6 June 2021.  From 19 April to 19 May, the whole nation is being called upon to dig in and sow, grow and share veg with our communities.

Whether you or your school are grow-it-yourself newcomers or seasoned growing experts, Plant and Share Month is for you and getting involved is really simple!

Take a look at the website for ideas, download the Plant and Share Toolkit and join the digital community. Why not encourage some creativity with your children, by taking part in this year’s competition to plant something in the most unusual growing container they can find?

Free Online Training Session: Share the Joy of Growing

Monday 19 April 2021 – 6pm

To kick start Plant and Share Month, we’re co-hosting a free online training session with Food For Life Get Togethers.  The event will explore why growing your own food is such a great amplifier for community connections, how to get started and lots of tips and tricks on how to get other people involved.
