Get growing for your Big Lunch!

The Big Lunch has partnered with the Food for Life Get Togethers Programme which is all about bringing different generations together through growing, cooking and eating.

They encourage communities to take part in Get Togethers all year round, but have three main national celebration events: Cook and Share Month, Plant and Share Month and The Big Lunch.

Plant and Share Month

Plant and Share Month is a great way for schools to get involved and get growing in time for The Big Lunch. From 20 April to 20 May, the whole nation is being called upon to dig in and sow, grow and share veg with our communities.

Whether you or your school are grow-it-yourself newcomers or seasoned growing experts, Plant and Share Month is for you and getting involved is really simple! Take a look at the website for ideas and from here you can download the Plant and Share Toolkit and join the digital community.

Not sure what or where to grow?  We've created some special resources below to help get you started - you don't need lots of equipment or a big allotment space to get your hands dirty.

P.s.  Did you know?

Wherever possible, using peat-free compost (or even making your own!) is a small measure we can all take to protect our environment this spring. Peatlands are precious spaces for wildlife and they're a huge store of carbon - protecting them is vital in the fight against climate change.
