Introduction to Community Action

If you want to become more involved in your community in a voluntary capacity, then this course is perfect for you! It’s fully-funded but places are limited.

We recommend applying if:

  • you’re just starting out on your journey, and want to learn more with others
  • you’re not sure where to start with your community project
  • you held a Big Lunch for the first time and are keen to do more
  • you have a little more time to get involved in your community now due to a change in life circumstances

Please note that due to funding restrictions, applicants must be based in the UK or Northern Ireland.  In addition, priority will be given to individuals exploring their ideas and carrying out their activities in an unpaid capacity in their community, and to those joining the course for the first time.  However, we will look at each application on an individual basis to check if it’s right for you.

Community Action in Practice

Our Community Action in Practice course is aimed at people who work with communities in a paid-for capacity, whether as part of a charity, CIC or public sector organisation. It aims to strengthen your skills and knowledge for engaging and inspiring others, to cultivate and nurture strong communities and facilitate action at a grassroots level.

As well as talks and practical workshops from inspiring speakers and experts in their field, you’ll have opportunities to share learning with colleagues in similar roles as a community of practice, with lots of support from our friendly team to help you build confidence and unlock challenges together.

The course costs:

  • £30 for charitable/third sector workers
  • £45 for public/private sector workers

The Network

We have a huge range of sessions, resources and support available for you and everyone, all year round.

These include regular online peer-peer monthly networking sessions, Facebook support groups and focussed events designed to empower you in specific areas of community action.

By the end I was full of great ideas and determined that we could take on building our space up as a greater community asset. I was on what we’ve since dubbed ‘the Eden Effect’. I have never felt so enthused in all my life!
