Marketing and Communications Officer, London
Salary from £22k
40 hours per week
Fixed term to end of December 2017
Eden Project Communities is the home of inspiration, ideas and guidance for individuals who want to make a positive change where they live. Our aim is to improve the happiness and wellbeing of people across the UK by helping to build more resilient and better connected communities. We believe that people are better able to tackle the challenges they face when they face them together.
We’re the people behind The Big Lunch, the UK’s annual get-together for neighbours, which since 2009, has grown continually with 7.3 million people taking part last year. Alongside this, we run Community Camps at the Eden Project in Cornwall to help people across the UK build the skills and confidence to drive positive social action where it is needed most.
Over the next year we are growing participation in community activity to new heights, aiming to increase the social impact that community-led action has on neighbourhoods all over the UK. To help us, we’re looking for the right individual to support both the Communications & Marketing Manager and the wider team through delivery of all elements of the marketing and communications plans for Eden Project Communities.
You will implement the communications strategy, helping to deliver print and digital resources, copywriting and managing content for the websites, e-newsletters and social media. An active communicator, you will maintain key relationships with partner organisations, and help to develop new relationships that help extend our message more widely.
Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within a communications environment, ideally within a similar community focused initiative or charity role. They will be an excellent communicator with experience crafting written and visual content, copy editing, using social media management and analytics tools, using website CMS, and solving problems in a fast paced environment. Photoshop and InDesign skills are desirable but not essential, as are film and video editing skills — however, these can be learnt on the job.
Working for the Eden Project (Charity number 1093070), roles within Eden Project Communities are funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund. The post holder will be based in our London office, and may be required to travel across the UK and to the Eden Project in Cornwall for key events and meetings.
The closing date for all applications is Monday 13 February at midday.
We aim to hold interviews 16 February in central London.
