The big do for organisations

The Big Lunch, the annual celebration for neighbours and communities, is joining forces with The Big Help Out to encourage even more people to take action and do something where they live on 5 – 8 June. It’s one big do – a weekend of friendship, food, fun and action.

Whether you’re a school, charity, business, council, housing association or community group, there are so many benefits to getting involved and creating positive change in your community.

Hold a taster event

Three people stand round a table smiling. One of them is clipping something onto a clipboard.

Holding a taster event is a great way to help people discover more about what your charity or organisation does.

Think about how to make it fun and give people a chance to connect and chat to others. How about:

  • a communal task – planting bulbs, creating a banner, peeling veg
  • a themed fun run
  • a game or activity to kickstart conversation about your cause

Getting people in through the door to help with something simple and easy is often the start of something more.

Spread the word

We’d love for you to tell your audiences all about The Big Lunch and The Big Help Out, and how they can involved. Find copy templates, logos, social graphics and more below.

  • By supporting and enabling people to come together to share food or lend a hand, you’re helping to reduce loneliness and create an increased sense of belonging.

  • We know that people giving their time for the common good is what makes our communities tick and feel more united.  Doing good makes people feel good, and helps support people and places that need it.

  • When these things come together, we see big positive changes in communities. We see people from different backgrounds coming together as friends, less crime, fewer tensions and improved community resilience to the challenges we face – from the climate emergency to social deprivation.
