The Big Lunch

Running annually since 2009, The Big Lunch is the UK’s annual get together for neighbours and communities when millions of people come together to share friendship, food and fun on the first weekend in June. Over 10 million people took part in 2025 alone and this year, The Big Lunch is getting even bigger!

In 2026, we’re bringing The Big Lunch and The Big Help Out together for one big weekend where everyone is invited to eat, meet and lend a hand locally. From inviting the neighbours out for lunch to organising a litter pick or visiting a local charity to help out, there are so many ways to join the fun and everyone can do something!

What will you do?

The Big Help Out

The Big Help Out started in 2023, encouraging people to have a go at volunteering, lend a hand and make a difference. Millions of people took part in 2023 and again in 2024, as charities offered simple opportunities for people to find out more and see what volunteering was all about.

We know that people giving their time to help out is what makes our communities tick and it helps us all feel more connected too. That’s why we are excited to bring The Big Help Out back in 2026, together with The Big Lunch, for one big weekend of friendship, food, fun and action on 5-8 June.

Whether you tuck into some food with neighbours or do some good locally, everyone is invited to join the fun and everyone can do something! What will you do?

We couldn’t be more excited to be bringing The Big Lunch and The Big Help Out together this year! There’s no better opportunity to get to know new people, support some amazing causes and try your hand at something a bit different.

We are the Eden Project

The Eden Project is an educational charity and social enterprise.

We explore how people can work together – and with nature – towards a better future.

We are inspired by the belief that people are more than capable of changing things for the better, and through creating Eden we’ve learnt what ingenuity, resourcefulness, hope and determination can do.
