Feeling a little late to the party, but want to get involved in The Big Lunch or The Big Jubilee Lunch this year? Don’t panic, there’s still time! Just follow these tips and remember that you can do it your way, whenever works best for you.

Organise something super simple

The Big Lunch doesn’t need to be big and it doesn’t even need to be lunch, it’s the getting together that counts. It could be as simple as bringing a few people together for a cuppa and cake, so why not knock on a neighbour’s door and invite them to join you?

If you want to organise something slightly bigger at the last minute, we’ve teamed up with More Human to create a new online event management tool to generate everything you need for a brilliant Big Lunch in just five minutes! This includes beautiful posters, web and social content and a handy task list. Make sure you also sign up for a free Pack and check out this guide to a super simple Big Lunch too.

Watch the Jubilee celebrations together

If you fancy getting the neighbours together for something simple and informal, why not tune in to watch the Jubilee coverage together? There are lots of special events planned over the extra-long bank holiday weekend, including Beacon Lighting, a BBC Concert and a Pageant on the Thames.

The Pageant will combine street arts, theatre, music, circus, carnival and costume - so that’s your entertainment covered. All you need to do is add your favourite drinks and snacks, and then your Big Jubilee Lunch is complete!

Join in during the Month of Community

The Big Lunch takes place annually on the first weekend in June, and this year once again kicks off a whole Month of Community.  You can join in whenever suits you, and we’ve teamed up with good causes across the UK to give you lots of opportunities and reasons to get involved throughout June.

A massive 15 million people took part in the first Month of Community in 2021 and this year is expected to be just as big, if not bigger!

It starts with a big splash for The Big Lunch, The Big Jubilee Lunch, Thank You Day, Neighbourhood Watch Week and Volunteers Week, but the fun continues throughout June with Carers Week, Loneliness Awareness Week, Small Charity Week, Refugee Week and The Great Get Together.

So, take a look and see what chimes with you. Whenever you decide to join in, our undated, editable posters make publicising your Big Lunch easy.

See what’s happening near you

If you can’t get anything started this year, take a look at The Big Lunch Map as there could already be an event or two planned near you. Pop your postcode in and zoom out if needs be, to show public and private events that have been registered locally.

Plan for the weather!

We hope for lovely sunshine (not too hot!) but our Great British weather can be a bit 'changeable'! Our top unpredictable weather tips will help you prepare for both heat waves and down pours.
