The Big Lunch: LIVE LESSON from the Eden Project rainforest

Would you like to bring the magic of the Eden Project biomes to your primary school students, from the comfort of your classroom?

Join us for an interactive telling of our ‘Rainforest Big Lunch’ story and the opportunity to explore and solve clues that will lead pupils to find some of Eden’s most iconic plants. All the while thinking about the connection between tropical rainforests and food eaten at community celebrations and The Big Lunch.

After the lesson, pupils and children across the UK are invited to take part in our Illustration Challenge – to design the dust jacket for the Rainforest Big Lunch story. We would love to make it into a printed book one day!

This lesson took place on 25 April live and is bursting with riddles to solve, actions to take, and experts to ask!

We’re working on ideas to make the Big Lunch as green as it can be. To help schools get involved, our education teams have created a simple lesson plan for key stage two to get pupils thinking about what ‘greener’ might look like. Designed to cover several areas of the KS2 Citizenship curriculum, this lively lesson plan will teach pupils about some of the simple actions we can all take to make sustainable food choices.

It’s a perfect compliment to our live lesson from the Eden Project rainforest! Watch the recording to hear a telling of our ‘Rainforest Big Lunch’ story and learn about the link between rainforests, food and The Big Lunch.

The Big Lunch takes place annually in June, but these resources can be used any time and linked to school or community events all year round!

Six very cute primary school children stand outside against a green and red maple tree. They are holding autumn wreaths they've created from leaves. They're ordered, boy, girl and are wearing red fleeces as part of their uniforms.

Wonderfully Wild Creations

Perfect for autumn and winter, this resource is designed to help EYFS and KS1 children explore seasonal shapes, textures and colours.
