What's happening in May?

All month

This month increase your awareness of local history in your community. Activities happen across the UK and include trips, library exhibitions and local lectures. It's a great way for groups to highlight local history and for local people to learn about where they live and to meet others from the community.

Why not use this month to find out about global historical connections in your local community too?

All month

May is the month for walking! Enjoy and explore your local spaces with a group or on your own. Walk for health or enjoyment: just put on your shoes and get out the door and be sure to join our walkers as they cover the UK's four nations in The Big Walk.

14 - 20 May

The focus for this year's Mental Health Awareness Week is relationships because healthy and supportive relationships reduce the risk of mental ill-health. We will be celebrating the connections in our lives that add to our wellbeing and protect our mental health. From friends and family to colleagues and neighbours, take notice of those connections that make you feel safe and supported and read some of our inspiring stories about people connecting.

15 May

Join us as we undertake The Big Walk, connecting people and communities across the UK!  Four walking teams will start their epic journeys from Morecambe along four routes that span the nation in the lead up to The Big Lunch on 3 June.

Join us as we welcome The Big Walk to Portobello for an inclusive fun community event including music, food, beach wheelchairs and rowing boats!
