Over lockdown, lots of us have spent more time socialising outdoors and learnt a lot about the importance of getting outside, but outdoor spaces can also be a fun, safe place for all kinds of community activities, from health walks to film nights!

The Big Lunch is about celebrating community connections and getting to know one another a little better.  This year, there are more reasons than ever to get together as The Big Lunch kicks off a summer of community, friendship and fun from 5 June.

You can join in however and whenever works best for your community, whether online, on your doorstep, over the fence, or in a public space.  We'll discuss how you can host your own Big Lunch in a fun and safe way that suits you and your community.

Small Steps for Welcoming People & Re-building a Positive Community

This positive and uplifting session will share practical ideas or 'stepping stones' you could try to help break down barriers for people wanting to connect within our streets and communities, for welcoming our friends and neighbours out of their doors once more. Anyone who attends will receive a free kit from the Eden Communities team as part of the #MonthofCommunity.

The last year has shown us all how incredibly valuable our green spaces are within our communities, and we all know that nature connection plays a vital role in our wellbeing.

During this free session we will hear from Maria Billington, Sara Latimer and Michael French, each of whom have a diverse and engaging story to tell regarding setting up thriving community spaces.

To get you in the mood for celebrating your community, get crafty with us! Our very own community artist Mo, and Community Network Developer Molly, will share some easy ways to create beautiful bunting ready to decorate your street in style for The Big Lunch weekend.

We will be streaming live from our Eden Project Communities Facebook page.  No need to register, just pop over and see us at 11am to join in!

This month increase your awareness of local history in your community. Activities happen across the UK and include trips, library exhibitions and local lectures. It's a great way for groups to highlight local history and for local people to learn about where they live and to meet others from the community.
