Big thank you, 5 September 6:30 -8:30pm

Thanks to everyone who has got involved with The Big Lunch, The Big Lunch community walk and our Eden Project Communities network to date. It’s been a busy but fruitful year so far and that’s thanks to you getting involved and doing all you can for your community and this network, which relies on us all pulling together and lending a hand, sharing our ideas and knowledge.

We are hosting a wee thank you in Belfast on 5 September, which will be very informal, sharing food and some of the highlights, we really hope you can make it along for a catch up that evening. You can register here.

There are a number of events planned so far which you will be able to dip into below and don’t forget all network members can update the Group on Facebook daily with questions, funding and training opportunities as well as ideas.

In Northern Ireland, we have teamed up with RVS to deliver a programme called 'community companions' and there is some funding available thanks to the Asda foundation for those interested in starting a community befriending project.  If you want to know more about this email Grainne on gmccloskey@edenproject.com.

Hope to see you at one of our autumn events, enjoy the rest of the summer.

Events

Online Workshop – Inclusion

Join Eden Project Communities and community-minded people from across the UK in a free online workshop about inclusion and what it means for you.

Tuesday 24 September 6-8pm and Friday 27 September 12-2pm

You'll be invited to share your experience, and have the chance to talk with and learn from others who are in the same boat. If you've not joined one of our online workshops before, they are really easy and relaxed, all are welcome!

We will be running the workshop twice, an evening and a lunchtime, to make it as accessible as possible to all.

2019 NI Eden Project Communities Gathering - 5 – 6 October

This event brings network members together in Derry to catch up, share ideas and make new connections.  It's almost full but if you are too late to book a place there is a waiting list and places do sometimes become available so register your interest.

An introduction to Community Asset Transfer - 14 October 12 -4pm

This session will be led by network member Lee Robb of DTNI. Join us and together we will take over ownership of an old red BT phone box in the middle of Belfast, decide how it will be used and share examples of community asset transfer.

A session for anyone interested in taking over a disused piece of land or a building and using it for a community project. Come and chat and ask the questions you have.

Funding

We provide notices of any funding we are aware of in our network Facebook group which is also where members share and ask ideas.
