We’re pleased to be partnering with the Royal Voluntary Service to recognise and celebrate the people who do amazing work in their community. BBC’s The One Show and Morning Live will be showcasing some of the stories as the official Broadcast Partners.
So if you know somebody who goes the extra mile, makes your neighbourhood a better place to be, or simply brims with creative community ideas, we want to hear from you!
The Platinum Champions Awards are being run by the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS), a fantastic charity supporting communities, healthcare teams and working with the NHS on the front-line.
Seven categories, each recognising 70 individuals, will be awarded a special RVS Platinum Champion award. Some 490 people from across Britain will be given special acknowledgement of their community efforts with a certificate and commemorative Platinum Champion pin.
A shortlist of 10 individuals from each of the 7 categories will also be invited to a very special Big Jubilee Lunch reception to celebrate their achievements on Sunday 5 June.
The Big Jubilee Lunch and One Show will be working together with RVS to identify people in a special ‘Community’ category. We’re calling on people everywhere including Big Jubilee Lunch organisers and those in the Eden Project Communities network to nominate special individuals who have made a difference where they live.
Our inspirational stories are a great place to start if you’re wondering how to nominate someone, including Sophie who founded the Cardiff Salad Garden, Joe who celebrated the amazing work of his fellow food bank volunteers, and Sonia, a Big Lunch veteran who brought her village together.
Nominations for the Platinum Champions Awards are now open and close at midnight on 10 April. Follow us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram for updates!
